‘Rock’ is a word used to describe a mineral material but also used to describe someone you rely on. I have taken this idea and thought about sedimentary rocks and their layers relating to the strong generations in my family and how each person is important in the structure of a family. I chose Staithes, as my grandparents met there in 1948, to inform my visual research, collecting images which later developed into each jewellery piece.
